Georgian-Russian War Film
The main square of Gori, graced with a heroic statue of Stalin, appeared under siege by what I came to realize were fictional troops. The film, now in production by Die Hard 2 director Renny Harlem, is to detail the five day war in 2008 between Georgia and Russia.
It's rumored that Andy Garcia will play Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili and that also Harlem's role in this movie is in part an attempt to pull himself out of a 90 million dollar bankruptcy deficit as a result of his cringing pirate film Cutthroat Island. I trotted across the plaza to locate a taxi to the cave dwellings as causality extras sat upright on the pavement and film crew escorted me off the location. As I returned from my excursion, I watched them film a scene under the statue, presumably with Harlem himself acting.
